Time Dream Meaning

Dream interpretation from 15 unique sources about Time

1- For time to be significant in a dream there is usuallv the necessity to measure it in some way, or to use a period of time as a measurement. Usuallv the dreamer is only aware of the passage of time, or that a particular time is meaningful in the dream - it Ls part of the dream scenario. On consideration, the time in the dream may symbolise a particular time in one’s life.

The daylight hours will thus suggest our conscious waking life. Wliere several days (or other long periods) pass Some other activity which is not relevant to uus has been going on.

The hours of the day These could refer lo a time of the dreamer’s life or it may simply be the number which is important (See also: Numbers). Afternoon This is a time of life when we can put our experience to good use. Evening The end of life highlights our ability to be more relaxed about our lives and activities. Mid-day When mid-day is suggested we are fully conscious and aware of our activities. Morning The first part of our life or our early experience is being highlighted. Night maybe a period of depression or secrecy. We may be introspective or simply at rest. Twilight can indicate in dreams a period of uncertainty and possible ambivalence insofar as our direction in life is concerned. It may also suggest a period of transition such as death.

2- To be early for an appointment in a dream suggests having to wait for something to happen before we can carry on our lives. Being late shows the dreamer’s lack of attention to detail or the feeling that time is running out. Watching the clock indicates the necessity to make time work for us.

3- Death or change. [1]

Your dreams may sometimes remind you that every day is precious and you need to make the most of the time that remains for you.

The passage of time is one of those basic conditions of life that we all take for granted. Yet, as Jung observed, whilst the true home of the psyche is outside of both time and space, the annals of sleep are full of anxiety dreams in which time exerts a relentless pressure. Meanwhile, symbols of time such as the clock, calendar, day and night, light and darkness, and the seasons have a special significance in dream interpretation because they can all parallel the stages of human life

A mundane interpretation of dreams featuring symbols of time may be that your dreaming mind is prompting you to remember to do something or to wake up in time. In some cases, your dreams may place you not in the present but in the past, or you may visualize a scenario set far in the future.

If you dreamed of a past occurrence, this may indicate nostalgia or be an attempt to remind you of an unresolved emotional problem.

If you dream of being fast-forwarded into the future, your dream may have been warning you of a course that your life may take if you carry out a particular action.

Many terminally ill people dream of clocks that are marking the passage of time which, inexorably, brings them closer to death. On the other hand, the feeling that you are running out of time during the events of a dream is a clear indication that you are living too rushed.

If time stops, it reveals the need to deliberate deep within yourself. In contrast, in the event that you dream that you have too much time, it signifies that you are little motivated and that you strayed from your main objective.

As you approach spiritual truth, time will be of less importance. Sometimes, in dreams, the past, the present, and the future mix within themselves to offer a unique feeling. When you concentrate, the same occurs. The less consciousness you have of the passage of time, the more profound the meditation of the mind will be. [3]

(See also: Clock, Hourglass)

An awareness that life sometimes passes you by unnoticed, or far more quickly than you might wish (e.g., “seeing time fly”).

Recognizing your mortality (e.g., “time waits for no man”).

Seeing a clock that is not moving represents a wish that time would momentarily stand still so that you can enjoy it more fully, or catch up on things that you feel you’ve missed.

Transformations that take a while to achieve (e.g., “time for a change”).

Knowing when to act, when to wait, when to speak, and when to remain silent for success (e.g., “timing is everything”).

Seeing a stop watch in a dream represents effective time management, and making every second count. Alternatively, feeling under time constraints. [4]

Time is an energy which enables us to experience and refine our creative power. All life is dependent upon cycles of time; everything has its own season. From birth to death is the cycle of life, with many smaller cycles in between. We are continuously moving through the process of time; all is dynamic, changing; nothing is static.

It is the perpetuator of illusion; all things dependent upon it are temporary, ever fleeting.

To flow with life is to use the energy of time to its fullest; to effortlessly manifest our goals and desires. We are interdimensional beings, unlimited by time when we understand our higher nature. [5]

How you use your time is a hint of your stage of development and your personality. It symbolizes how you organize and plan your life.

It is meaningful to know what time period your dream represents—noon or night.7 Summer or winter? Also the century could be important.

As happens in many dreams, time sometimes seems to stand still (stagnation) or is passing quickly (stress).

If time is standing still, it could mean it’s time to slow down, to look at something more closely. Time speeding up—as in a time-lapse photo—often symbolizes expanded awareness. [6]

Material aspects: Watching the clock indicates the necessity to make time work for us.

The clock hands or digital numbers in a dream may be indicating those numbers that are important to us.

To be early for an appointment in a dream suggests having to wait for something to happen before we can carry on our lives. Being late shows our lack of attention to detail or the feeling that time is running out. [7]

Dreams of time signify your attitudes and feelings regarding time, punctuality, deadlines, order and structure. This dream is a reflection of how you operate within the ego world.

If you dream of wanting to know the time signifies a desire for a reality check, as in “What’s really going on here?” You may be coming to your senses and venting out your fear of being late.

This is another one of those words that you must consider with the entire dream in mind.

If time is of the essence and you are rushed or late this could be a warning not to be caught late for an important appointment. This could also be a fear dream pointing at the fact that you have a real life appointment and you have a fear of oversleeping, in this case the dream is only mirroring your fear. [9]

In a spiritual sense time has no relevance, being a man made construct.

The realization of age and time, being a valid concept, is signified by a clock.

The image of father time as an old man signifies changes brought about by the passage of time. Consult the entries for calendar, dawn / day and night, evening, night and numbers for further information. [11]

An emphasis on time in a dream may indicate a great deal of stress in the dreamer’s life, perhaps the feeling that time is running out in either a business or a personal matter. [12]

2. “Timely” activities and obligations are neglected.
