The theory behind this is that the past, present and future co-exist side by- side as it were, and that it is possible to ‘read’ these records in the dream state. Our experience of them is subjective, although we are in the position of observers.
2- Psychologically, if we are to be in control of our lives, we often need to feel that we must be aware of the future, and dreams can give an insight into how we can or will act in the future. Dreams allow us to play out certain scenarios, to explore possibilities without coming to any harm.
3- Spiritual Manifestation, as in ‘all things must pass’. [1]
If the dream is pleasant it signals the dreamer’s agreeability for the direction of her future.
If it is uncomfortable it indicates fear and guilt for the way the dreamer is carrying out her life in the present. Some dreams come to us in the form of prophecies and it seems that they reveal future events to us. Other times, we have the impression that we had already dreamed of an actual event. However, it is hard to tell whether we dreamed of that particular event for sure.
It is advisable not to take these dreams as premonitions because, usually, the unconscious significantly distorts the information. [2]
More often, it presents your imagined, expected, feared, or desired version of the future.
In a dream about the future, the subconscious mind might be playing out a “what if” scenario to explore what a particular situation would be like, and how you might feel about it and handle it.
