Wall Dream Meaning

Dream interpretation from 25 unique sources about Wall

To see a wall in your dream signifies protection, limitations, obstacles and boundaries. When they are well maintained, walls can give privacy. When they are damaged, however, they can let anyone or anything through. A wall may also symbolize a barrier obstructing your progress; you may have become accustomed to your old habits and way of thinking, and the wall symbolizes your own inertia. Whilst a‘wall of silence’ is a term used to describe problems with communication, there is also the saying‘walls have ears’, so have you heard something inappropriate recently? Perhaps you have‘hit a brick wall’ and feel you can make no more progress? Similarly do you feel as if you are ‘banging your head against a brick wall’?

To dream that you jump over a wall suggests that you will overcome tough obstacles and eventually succeed. To dream that you demolish or break down a wall indicates that you are breaking through obstacles and overcoming your limitations.

If you see a wall crumble, this suggests that you have easily risen above your problems and overcome your barriers. To dream that you are building a wall represents a bad relationship or some childhood trauma. It also suggests that you putting barriers up in waking life. To dream that you are being thrown or shot through a wall literally means that you need to break down those walls that you have put up around you. You need to venture out and explore. [1]

Codes of behaviour, belief systems, attitudes—often unconscious—you live within, or are protected by; the boundaries of behaviour or thought you keep within, are fearful of extending beyond, or are trapped by, thereby what one feels to be barriers or restrictions, one’s feelings of confidence which protect against anxiety or social knocks’; the feelings or attitudes you keep people away with—the walls we put up between us to maintain privacy, stop being hun, or to maintain a role or status. Also a special feeling which you have created, such as developing a sense of one’s own value.

Example: I realised T had been in Bill’s room and not respected his need for privacy, so Bill had tom down the wall as a protest and made the room, which now appeared about four times its usual size, into a public sitting room’ (Cyril A). Sometimes what the wall depicts is obvious, as in the example, where it is shown as the way Cyril maintains his separation from others and thus is a private individual.

The fall of the wall shows how exposed’ one might be.

The description of private areas of our life in a newspaper might be an example of just such a wall coming down. Idioms: drive up the wall; go to the wall; writing on the wall; back to the wall; knock one’s head against a wall.

Our defensive attitudes; feelings of security; social barriers; boundaries created by anxiety or view of life—a nationalistic attitude might act as a barrier to seeing other viewpoints on history. Our dependence upon our physical senses gives a boundary to our awareness, and a wall may symbolise such a frontier of our awareness.

Example: ‘I went to the top of the turret and saw all the men getting ready to defend the castle if attacked. They had arrows and a lot of men were standing on little ledges on the outside of the wall, with no protection and I knew they were very brave to face an attack as sooner or later they would have been hit’ (Anna R). Here the wall is obviously to do with defending the dreamer against attack. Such a wall might be made out of our aggressive feelings, with religious dogma which might defend us against fears and uncertainty, or from tightly controlled behaviour and emotions.

Walls of favourite house: might be our feelings of security in our marriage or family which give us defence against the ‘storms’ of life. Wall of prison, trap: fear, pain; ignorance, prejudice; anger, sense of being an outsider. Idioms: drive somebody up the wall, go to the wall; writing on the wall; back to the wall; head against a brick wall; fly on the wall.

The dreamer needs to be aware of what his limits are. [4]

A wall is an obstacle that prevents you from achieving what you want. This blockage can be found in real life or within yourself. You may be behaving like a real brick wall, rejecting any display of affection. On the other hand, it may symbolize a problem you cannot solve yet. In these cases, it is best not to obsess and just wait patiently. In the event that you see yourself building a wall, the dream trying to warn you that you need additional protection to defend against the setbacks of daily life. If, on the contrary, you are knocking it down, perhaps you crave more freedom or need to escape a claustrophobic atmosphere.

The wall foreshadows difficulties and obstacles related to money. However, all will be well if you find a door or a hole to pass through. [5]

Walls are boundaries that turn what would otherwise be an open space into something specific and functional. By compartmentalizing thoughts and ideas in our minds, we are able to manage our thoughts and feelings more effectively, and walls are symbolic of the structure that allows us to function in this way.

The walls in your dreams represent this ability; the condition of these walls is to be interpreted as either helping this process or an indication that this process is being challenged. [6]

Dreaming about a wall represents strength, reliability, support, and the people and beliefs that uphold your life. This dream could be showing you that you have built walls as barriers to keep love and intimacy at bay, or, alternatively, that you need to set healthy boundaries with people that demand too much of you. Also, this dream may be reflecting that you feel that your back is against a wall. Consider the feeling tone of this dream to discern its message for you. [7]
Vision: Standing in front of a wall: insurmountable obstacles are in your way—rum back!.

Depth Psychology: A wall provides safety (protection) or is an obstacle (obstruction). Are you beating your head against a wall? If so, you are trying to solve your problems the wrong way—find a more effective way! The rest of the dream is important if you want to gain deeper insight. [8]

Dreaming about a wall could be about our defensiveness, or a dream wall could represent a sense of security.

The term “wall” is also central to many idioms, and the dream could be drawing on the meaning of one of these, such as: the “writing on the wall,” “off the wall,” our “back against the wall,” “talking to a brick wall,” or “hitting one’s head against the wall.” [9]

To dream of a wall suggests a barrier to your movement in life.

To hide behind a wall in a dream symbolizes finding protection.

A leaning wall is symbolic of a person under pressure, Ps. 62:3.

A high, flimsy wall can symbolize the folly of trusting in wealth, Prov. 18:11. A broken wall symbolizes not having self-control, Prov. 25:28 [10]

Material aspects: In dreams, walls usually indicate the limits we have set ourselves. These may be created as defence mechanisms or support structures, and it is sometimes helpful in the interpretation to decide whether the walls have been created in order to keep ourselves in, or other people out. [11]
Walls are traditionally considered to be obstacles or sources of isolation or confinement. Climbing the wall suggests that you are fighting to break out of the isolation, and will be able to overcome your difficulties and/or challenges, especially if you climb to the top of the wall. [12]
These represent obstacles; therefore the meaning of the dream depends on the outcome of its action.

If you dreamed of jumping over one, you will achieve success through your own determination, and if your dream featured walking along the top of a wall, your future is bright indeed. [13]

The general meaning of this symbol is that of protection and transcendence. The status of the wall as solid strength allows introspection, creativity, and spiritual contemplation. In general, dreaming of walls is evidence of a need for isolation. [14]
If you dream that you are enclosed by walls or cannot climb up, it means frustration or inability to attain an ambition. Breaking through a wall, success in spite of obstacles. Jumping over the wall, tremendous effort that reaches the goal. [15]
Block, obstacle. To wall off from others does not afford protection, only locks you in rigid roles and fear. Tear down a wall or go around it by changing beliefs, attitudes; risking, loving. [16]

A wall may symbolize something that prevents you from reaching what you need. The obstacle will usually be self-imposed. [17]

If one sees a wall caving over his head, or falling over other people in a dream, it means that he has committed many sins and unless his repents, his punishment will be swift.

The caving-in of a wall toward the inside of a house in a dream means an illness, but if it falls toward the outside in the dream, it means death. Seeing a crack in the wall in a dream means that someone in the family will brace against him. Grabbing to a wall in a dream means the nearing of one’s death, pending how firmly one is grabbing to it in the dream. Grabbing to a wall in a dream is also interpreted as holding firmly to one’s interest in a strong person. Ifone builds a wall then tears it down in a dream, it means that he will attempt at destroying someone’s livelihood, or perhaps kill him. Ifone sees and recognizes a wall in his dream, it represents a close friend who may die from depression.

A wall in a dream is also interpreted as a mighty person who cannot be managed except through kindness. Jumping over a wall in a dream means reverting from being a believer to a disbeliever, or accepting and following the advice of a disbeliever. Seeing one’s picture reflected in a wall in a dream means one’s death, and that his name will be itched on his gravestone.

If a traveller sees himselfreturning to his house, whereby its walls are renewed, it means that he will get married. Seeping water from a crack in a wall in one’s dream means adversities and stress.
